Tasting as you go improves cooking. It does not require dipping the same used spoon into the pan again and again.
Keep a few clean teaspoons nearby, or transfer a small sample from the cooking spoon to a separate tasting spoon without touching them together. Put used utensils aside for washing. This is particularly helpful when cooking for other people or preparing food that will be stored.
Clean work surfaces, washed hands, and appropriate separation matter just as much in a plant-based kitchen. Raw produce and flour still need proper handling; removing animal ingredients does not remove every food-safety concern.
Make the convenient choice the clean one. A small bowl for used spoons beside the stove is often more effective than expecting yourself to remember a complicated system while the onions are catching and somebody is asking when dinner will be ready.
